Laval wins the second consecutive edition of the Renaissance Challenge!

The City of Laval and its citizens won the prize for the most donations collected in the Renaissance Challenge for the second time in a row with 7,966  donors!

Thanks to this initiative, 278,810 pounds of clothing and other household goods were diverted from landfill sites.

Congratulations to the City of Laval!

In recognition of the generosity and support of the citizens and the City of Laval, Mr. Éric St. Arnaud, CEO of Renaissance, presented a plaque to Mrs. Sandra El Helou, municipal councillor ( Souvenir-Labelle district) at the Fripe Prix Renaissance store located at 965 Curé Labelle.

" Congratulations and thank you to all the citizens of Laval as well as the municipality. With your donations you are helping the environment and also your community. Each year, you make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people excluded from the workforce, who are thus able to rebuild their autonomy and their dignity," explained Mr. St. Arnaud.

The Renaissance Challenge, a friendly competition

In the Fall version of their donation campaign, held from September 23 till October 20, 2018, the organization launched the "Renaissance Challenge". It is a friendly competition with the participation of 25 cities and boroughs in the Greater Montreal Area. The population was invited to drop off their donations of clothing and other used goods at their neighbourhood Donation Centre to support their municipality and the job training mission of Renaissance. There are eight collection points in the City of Laval which offer residents a place to dispose of their goods in a responsible way.
