While donors think in terms of donating to help the most needy, some organizations are happy to merely front for private-sector companies. Most of the time, donors are not informed of such practices.
Renaissance encourages the public to donate prudently
Not every organization that collects donations of used clothing and other goods makes good use of their donations. Some second-hand stores appeal to the public's sense of charity, but only donate a small percentage of the money generated by donations to charity. At Renaissance, 100% of our revenues are used to finance our reintegration program.
Other companies collect used clothing and other goods in order to export them. At Renaissance, donations directly benefit the population of the Greater Montreal Area.
